London's new garden bridge

 
1 November 2013 saw the presentation in London of the Garden Bridge project, a pedestrian bridge across the Thames linking the South Bank and Temple. At 367 metres long, the Garden Bridge is designed to be covered with trees and flowers, another green space to add to London’s numerous parks and gardens.

magazine has just come out with the news that Google Engine Lab and the University of Maryland, together with dozens of other scientific and government institutions, have published changes to woodland areas during the last century throughout the world 
on the web. 
An interesting read rich in detail with some very high spec illustrations.

The world’s best vertical gardens

Even walls can breathe! London, Victoria, where the Palace Hotel has recently seen the addition of an eco-friendly 21-metre high vertical garden wall studded with over 10,000 plants, all perfect for attracting pollinators. The vertical garden covers over 350 m² and is watered by a 10,000 litre rainwater irrigation system.

Beautiful world - Lonely Planet editore

Lonely Planet has brought out a new volume celebrating some of the most beautiful places on the planet in pictures entitled Beautiful World. The photo opposite shows a stunning shot of the waterfalls in the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. The park consists in a series of terraced lakes and waterfalls ranging in colour from emerald green to turquoise and subtle shades of grey. The book contains 200 photographs from all over the world taken by travellers, from the Bryce Canyon National Park to the Italian Dolomites. An absolute must.
